In the tourism-dependent economy of Antigua and Barbuda, the Hon. John Maginley’s portfolio as Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture is pivotal in managing major aspects of the visitor experience. Recognized for his leadership in reforming the country’s health care system when he was Minister of Health, Maginley plans to combine this experience with the level of skills he developed as a successful tennis player and cricketer to explore the development of several niche markets for which he has a passion, including wellness and sports tourism, to help re-brand and strengthen the destination’s tourism product.

COLIN C. JAMES
CEO, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority
The vision of the newly-formed Tourism Authority is to market and promote Antigua and Barbuda as an upscale and unique destination and to design initiatives to increase visitor arrivals and drive on-island spending. James believes that Antigua and Barbuda is a destination that offers a wide array of facilities, activities and events and should be marketed as one that is attractive, elegant and renowned for its service quality. He also feels that although the global financial crisis has resulted in unprecedented challenges, the country is in a unique position to combine the experience, skills and talents of its people, working with key industry partners, to ensure the continued sustainability and success of our tourism sector. The new Tourism Authority will also ensure that all local stakeholders are continually made aware of the importance of the industry while working to provide a visitor experience that is second to none. All overseas tourism offices now fall under the structure of the Tourism Authority.

CAMERON FRASER
Managing Director, Key Properties
Cameron Fraser, a member of one of Antigua’s pre-eminent families, is responsible for some of the island’s most successful tourism-based businesses, including Coco Bay Resort, Sheer Restaurant, the Coconut Beach Club and Redcliffe Quay in St. Johns. His company Key Properties, has a total of forty-seven businesses operating within Redcliffe Quay, catering to both tourists and locals. Fraser is also the visionary behind the building and completion of the Heritage Quay and Nevis Street Piers. In the early 1980’s, Frasier’s father, the late Bill Fraser and his friend John Astor, formed Key Properties. After his father’s death in 1996, Fraser and his brother Ian began managing the company and maintaining the character and history of the buildings. Fraser was Manager of the Antigua Pier Group until 2006 when he left to lead the management team at the Nonsuch Bay Development, a La Perla International project. However, he retains his position as a Member of the Board of Directors of APG and ABCTA.

NATHAN DUNDAS
Manager, Bryson's Shipping; President, ABCTA
As Manager of Bryson’s Shipping and President of the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association (ABCTA), Nathan Dundas has played an integral role in Antigua and Barbuda’s cruise and shipping industry for over a decade. The ABCTA was formed in 1997 by private sector individuals and businesses with a direct interest in cruise tourism. The objective was to create a lobby group to speak with one voice when talking with cruise lines and the government. The Association has approximately 32 members, including tour operators, merchants, shipping agents and statutory bodies.

Manager, Antigua Pier Group Ltd.
The Antigua Pier Group, through various initiatives with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, is entirely committed to meeting the needs of cruise lines and cruise passengers and preparing for the future. Fundamental to this objective are the efforts of APG’s Marketing initiatives. As Manager, Conrad brings with him, a wealth of experience in management as a former investment banker in New York. There are many challenges that are associated with guiding a new entity into a competitive business environment, but Conrad is firmly committed to helping make Antigua and Barbuda the best brand in Caribbean tourism. He is also mindful of the high level of personalized service that is expected for a positive visitor experience, and it is his goal to further enhance the development and expansion of the proposed Waterfront Development Project, which he feels will put Antigua and Barbuda on the cutting edge of cruise tourism in the Caribbean.
